If you would like the opportunity to experience first-hand what makes a best-in-class factory tick, there’s is no better way than visiting a site, meeting the manufacturing teams and viewing the processes live from top floor to cell level.

SiemensSiemens MR Magnet Technology

Find out how kaizen has helped Siemens boost the number of magnets produced per employee by 100% and make sweeping reductions in inventory value.

The plant supplies magnet technology to life saving MRI scanners and a stunning improvement effort helped the site to a Best Factory Awards double two years ago. Over 70 lean projects have saved more than 7,500 hours in production time since 2009. The campaign has delivered six figure cost savings and helped Siemens pay back on the significant capital investment required to develop magnet technology. Half of the overall savings have been distributed back to employees through a recognition based reward scheme. The employees have earned every penny with staff suggestions netting a £4.4 million saving and counting.

Aimia Aimia Foods

Britain’s official Best Factory opens the doors of its all conquering Haydock site. The plant mixes market leading innovation with manufacturing excellence. The site is eternally adding value delivering £4m growth to one customer by improving the client’s original product design. Aimia has just created new easy open opercule cups for airlines that will make watching the cabin crew struggling to get the foil out your brew a thing of the past.

The Haydock site is an exemplar of Six Sigma, using data to eliminate manufacturing waste and win business.

However, it’s the men and women at Haydock who really earned Aimia its Factory of the Year crown at this year’s Best Factory Awards. An astute management team have fostered a target smashing shopfloor through the development of transparent daily objectives that pull towards a grander corporate strategy. The success has been powered by the adoption of Hoshin Kanri, which has banished non value adding activity and high performance work teams who are the engine room of improvement activity that has generated over 250,000 in savings.

Find out what it takes to turn your factory into the best by signing up to the Aimia tour.
